Royal Caribbean’s Wonder of the Seas made an unexpected return to PortMiami shortly after setting sail on a Bahamas cruise, following a fight between passengers.
It seems like almost every day there’s a story about fighting on a cruise ship?! Last week it was Carnival’s chicken tenders fight, and today Royal Caribbean.
The ship had just departed when an altercation broke out near a children’s pool, escalating from an argument into a physical confrontation. Some guests required medical attention, and the captain decided to head back to Miami so they could be disembarked. Emergency crews, including police and Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, met the ship at the terminal, and the individuals involved were taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.
Royal Caribbean confirmed that its onboard team provided initial medical care and reported the incident to local authorities, but emphasized that the matter is under investigation and declined to share further details.
According to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, both parties have declined to press charges. Meanwhile, other passengers shared conflicting accounts online, with some claiming they saw crowds rushing toward the pool area, and others suggesting more guests were removed from the ship, though that has not been confirmed.
After the brief diversion, Wonder of the Seas resumed its itinerary late Monday evening and is continuing its four-night sailing, with stops scheduled at CocoCay and Nassau.
But seriously, you’re meant to be on vacation! Relax! And put those fists down… Although this does give me an idea for a t-shirt design: “No fucking fighting” hah.
