Well, Royal Caribbean has announced that astronaut and social media personality Kellie Gerardi will serve as godmother to Star of the Seas, the line’s second Icon-class ship. The reveal was made during an event onboard, a source confirmed to Cruise Critic.
Who is Kellie Gerardi?
Kellie Gerardi is a multifaceted trailblazer. A payload specialist and bioastronautics researcher, social media influencer, author, and devoted mother. She works as a mission operations lead at Palantir Technologies and directs human spaceflight operations at the International Institute for Astronautical Sciences (IIAS).
Kellie Gerardi made history as the 90th woman ever to travel to space and among the first payload specialists to fly on a commercial spacecraft.
The ship’s official naming ceremony is slated for August 20th in Port Canaveral, its year-round homeport.
