Celebrity Beyond, the third ship in Celebrity Cruises‘ signature Edge-class, entered service in April 2022 after being built at Chantiers de l’Atlantique in France. Built larger and slightly longer than earlier Edge ships, Beyond features expanded open-air spaces, an innovative outward-facing design, and luxurious added amenities – all while maintaining the floating-resort feel the series is known for. The vessel also stands out by offering Starlink internet service, bringing high-speed connectivity to sea travellers.
My Review of Celebrity Beyond
If you’re looking for a full review of Celebrity Beyond, you’re in luck! In November 2025, I cruised on her and had an incredible time! Read the review here.
Recent News: Propulsion Issues and Itinerary Adjustments onboard Celebrity Beyond
In July 2025, Celebrity Beyond experienced a propulsion issue that forced the cancellation of its July 20 sailing. The ship underwent repairs at a Bahamian shipyard and resumed service on July 27, albeit with slowed itineraries as a precaution. Guests booked for August through October have been notified of schedule adjustments, such as swapped port days and modified docking hours, to ensure safety and comfort despite reduced sailing speed.
Additionally, the ship is scheduled for its next dry dock in November 2026, when more thorough maintenance will take place.
My Favourite Spots onboard Celebrity Beyond
Firstly, let me say, the entire ship is stunning! But these were some of my absolute favourites and where I spent the majority of my time!
Café Al Bacio
Café Al Bacio is a casual eatery and coffee spot that I visited multiple times a day. On a morning, it’s where I grabbed my iced coffee. On an evening, I grabbed a wide selection of coffee-based alcoholic drinks. It’s open for the entire day, and at different times there’s cakes, sandwiches, and little bites for you to enjoy.
It’s almost impossible to not visit Café Al Bacio at least once.
Eden
Potentially my favourite space on the entire ship. During the day it feels calm and laid-back, a peaceful spot that serves breakfast and lunch on sea days. At night it completely changes character, becoming a warm, woodsy venue with live entertainment that can be anything from acoustic sets to acrobatics.
There’s a few side spaces that are attached to Eden: an outside smoking area, Eden cafe, Eden restaurant (speciality), and then a few little side nooks to enjoy.
Sunset Bar
If you want the most golden sunsets at sea, head to the Sunset Bar — and yep, that’s exactly where the name comes from. Seriously, it’s incredible!
Even though it looks small, there’s plenty of seating, so you’ll always find a spot. Bonus: there’s a sneaky little entrance into Oceanview Cafe right from the bar!
Rooftop Garden
This is a fabulous space with lots of seating and shade, and it’s really transformative from both day to night. If you’re wanting to seek a space away from the main pool, then you’ll love this space!
Oceanview Cafe
I never thought I’d say this, but the Oceanview Cafe was another favourite spot of mine. Unlike both Oasis of the Seas and Costa Smeralda, where the buffet was a total disaster, this one was so spacious, chilled, and actually felt fit for purpose. I’ll cover more about this in my food section, but honestly I was really impressed.
The Solarium
I absolutely loved using the solarium onboard Celebrity Beyond. It was especially relaxing when the sun was at it’s peak and being outdoors became a little bit unbearable. Plus, I got to meet my favourite waiter, Shihan, in the solarium!
Dining on Celebrity Beyond
Dining on Celebrity Beyond seems to be a highlight in its own right. With 32 venues ranging from casual cafés to fine dining, guests can enjoy everything from vibrant buffets at the Oceanview Café to specialty restaurants like Le Voyage by Daniel Boulud, Raw on 5, and Fine Cut Steakhouse.
- Main Dining: Four complimentary main restaurants (Cosmopolitan, Cyprus, Tuscan, and Normandie), each with their own theme.
- Specialty Restaurants: Le Voyage by Chef Daniel Boulud (exclusive to Beyond), Fine Cut Steakhouse, Eden Restaurant, and Raw on 5 for sushi and seafood.
- Casual Eats: Oceanview Café (buffet with global cuisine), Mast Grill for poolside bites, and Eden Café for light lunches.
If you’re a foodie, you’ll love the variety, and the fact that Celebrity puts real thought into vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options.
The onboard entertainment is just as varied, including Broadway-style shows, live music, the Martini Bar’s flair bartending in the Grand Plaza, and tranquil moments in the SEA Thermal Suite with saunas and heated loungers.
Who is the Captain of Celebrity Beyond?
As of September 2025, the current captain of Celebrity Beyond is Captain Kyriakos Matragkas. He assumed command of the ship following Captain Kate McCue’s departure from Celebrity Cruises in February 2025 after a distinguished 22-year career with the company.
Captain Matragkas, often referred to as Captain Kirk, has been part of Celebrity Cruises for several years and has previously served as captain on other vessels within the fleet. His appointment to Celebrity Beyond marks a significant milestone in his career, and he is regarded as a seasoned and respected leader within the cruise industry.
I know some people (myself included) were shocked to hear Captain Kate’s departure from Celebrity Cruises, and I’m pretty sure some people (myself included, again) booked Celebrity Beyond because she was the captain!
