Amazing Heartwarming Reddit Story: Enchantment of the Seas Cupholder Goes Viral

Cruisers love to share their opinions online, and sometimes what starts as a complaint turns into something far more entertaining. Recently, a Reddit thread about Royal Caribbean’s Enchantment of the Seas became an unlikely piece of cruise lore – and it all started with a broken cupholder. And let me tell you, I am obsessed.

The start of it all:

One passenger, Asorensen1989, fresh off a week sailing on Enchantment, didn’t hold back in their review:

  • The ship, launched in 1997 and last given an overhaul in 2012, was described as “worn out and dated.”
  • Technology onboard felt seriously lacking.
  • Service was praised, but even great crew couldn’t hide the ship’s age.

While they noted the smaller size made for a calmer, less crowded atmosphere, when it came to activities and entertainment, they scored Enchantment just a 3/10.

To drive the point home, they even shared a photo of a broken cupholder in the Orpheum Theater – a sad little coaster hanging off an armrest.

Here’s where it gets interesting!

Enter DIY hero, user Shot_Bread_9657, who jokingly told the guy to stash the piece and he’ll fix it when he’s boarding in a few weeks.

It was a throwaway joke… or so everyone thought.

Fast-forward a few weeks, and the same commenter returned, not with words, but with action. They had, in fact, repaired the infamous cupholder. Armed with nothing more than caulk, sandpaper, epoxy putty, some brushes, and a $5 Michaels coupon for paint and lacquer, they restored it to working order.

How wild is that?!

From Complaint to Cruise Folklore

What began as a critical post about an aging ship has now become Enchantment of the Seas lore. Forget the Broadway-style shows or buffet debates – it’s become a reddit passtime of iykyk; passengers will forever whisper about the cupholder hero who patched up the Orpheum Theater.

And this story tells you everything you need to know about people who love cruising; they care about the ships. And whilst yes, they would love for the corporations to do the repairs, passengers care and respect the ships they’re sailing on.

So next time you step aboard Enchantment, take a look around the theater. Somewhere in the rows of seats sits the most famous cupholder at sea – a small but mighty symbol of cruiser creativity.
