Why I Love Like Father

This movie is simple but sweet. Kristen Bell’s character Rachel is left at the altar and ends up on a honeymoon cruise with her dad, Harry, who she hasn’t really seen in years. What I like is how the film doesn’t try too hard to be dramatic or overly funny. It’s just a real, warm story about reconnecting with family when you least expect it.

Watching them go from awkward strangers to something closer feels honest and relatable. Plus, the cruise setting adds a light, adventurous vibe that keeps the story fun and fresh.

Did I already mention it’s one of my favourite movies of all time?! It’s a movie I’ll watch if i’m craving a duvet day, if i’m counting down the days to a Royal Caribbean cruise, or if i’m doing a long haul flight. I love it.

Is Like Father Actually Filmed on the Ship?

Yes! Most of Like Father was filmed on Harmony of the Seas itself. The production used the ship as the real backdrop for the story, which adds an authentic feel to the movie. So when you watch Rachel and Harry navigating the ship’s decks, pools, and restaurants, you’re seeing the actual places on board.

This makes the movie extra fun for cruise fans because you get a sneak peek of what life on Harmony looks like, from the vibe in Central Park to the excitement on the Boardwalk.

What Makes Harmony of the Seas So Special

Harmony of the Seas is one of the largest cruise ships in the world and it’s packed with features that make cruising an experience all on its own. Here are some highlights that stand out:

  • Seven Neighbourhoods: The ship is divided into different areas, each with its own vibe. There’s Central Park, an outdoor garden area with real plants, and the Boardwalk, which feels like a classic seaside amusement park with a carousel and street performers.
  • Pools and Water Fun: Multiple pools and hot tubs are spread across the decks. The Ultimate Abyss is the tallest dry slide at sea, a rush of excitement that goes down several decks.
  • Activities for Everyone: From zip lines to surf simulators, there’s something to keep you busy all day long. You can also catch Broadway-style shows in the ship’s theaters, adding a touch of real entertainment.
  • Food and Drink: With dozens of dining options, from casual spots to fancy restaurants, there’s something for every taste. The robotic bartenders are a fun bonus for a quick drink with a bit of flair.
  • Spacious and Luxurious: Even with thousands of passengers, the ship never feels too crowded thanks to its size and design. Plus, the rooms and public spaces are modern and comfortable.

Why They Work Together

Like Father and Harmony of the Seas go hand in hand because the movie shows how a cruise isn’t just about the places you visit. It’s about the journey and the moments you share on board. Watching the characters come together on such a lively, exciting ship makes the story feel hopeful and full of possibilities.

If you’re thinking about taking a cruise or just want a feel-good movie that’s light and fun with a bit of heart, this movie and ship combo is worth your time.
