3rd August update: There’s another source (Reddit user: FrangipaniRose) saying that the issue was sorted relatively quickly, there were plenty of announcements (in several languages) about the issue, and there’s no further issues onboard.
Word is coming in that the Celebrity Constellation is currently without power somewhere off the coast of Italy. Think poop cruise vibes – minus the fire because just one hour in, passengers are already feeling the heat.
The ship’s air conditioning is out, lights are down, and bathrooms aren’t flushing. Dinner service has been cut back to cold food only, with no hot meals being served.
This all happening mid-sea day close to the Italian coast, and while there’s still a signal for communication, it’s expected to be lost soon.
With no power and rising temperatures, things are understandably uncomfortable onboard. Passengers and families alike are anxiously waiting for updates and hoping the situation gets resolved quickly.

Celebrity Constellation refurbishment
In April 2024, Celebrity Constellation underwent a significant refurbishment at Chantier Naval de Marseille in Marseille, France. This update introduced several enhancements, including the addition of 66 new staterooms, the conversion of 107 balcony cabins into AquaClass Spa cabins, and the creation of the Celebrity iLounge, making Celebrity the first Authorised Apple Reseller at sea. Additionally, two new bars—the Martini Bar and Crush Bar—were added to the Grand Foyer area, and the basketball court on Deck 12 was enhanced.
While the 2013 refurbishment brought modern amenities to the ship, subsequent planned upgrades have faced delays. For instance, a major “Celebrity Revolution” dry dock refurbishment was scheduled to begin on May 1, 2020, but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As of now, there is no confirmed date for the next major refurbishment.
