After joining Dis-Loyalty back in May, I was keen to make the most of the perks and book a hotel using the discount. I had a trip to Paris planned for Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter Tour in June and had already reserved a room through Booking.com — but then I spotted something surprising. A luxury hotel in Paris was actually cheaper than a two-star independent stay.
Thanks to Dis-Loyalty, I paid €362.80 for two nights at Mama Shelter Paris La Défense, saving €86.60 with the membership. Not bad at all.
First Impressions of the Hotel
The hotel has a really fun aesthetic – kind of vintage-meets-space, very My Parents Are Aliens – if you know, you know. When you arrive, you head up pitch-black escalators lit by neon spaceships that lead to reception. Very cool vibe.
The lobby area features Mama Shelter merch, a pool table, and connects to a Sports Bar. And just upstairs, on the 9th floor, is their ‘secret garden’, where you can order food and drinks, and have direct view of the Eiffel Tower.
Late-Night Arrival
We got in close to 1am, absolutely shattered and starving. The staff said we could head up to the venue on the 9th floor, which turned out to be buzzing. DJ, crowds – it was basically a full-on club. Sadly… no food. So we went to bed impressed by the energy, but concerned that we weren’t gonna get any sleep.
How did I sleep at Mama Shelter Paris La Défense?
We braced ourselves for a noisy night. But to our surprise? Silence. Not a peep from the hallway, and none of the music bled through. I slept like a baby. The bed had a mix of firm and soft pillows – something for everyone.
Same goes for the second night – no noise, and slept like a baby.
Location: Mama Shelter Paris La Défense
The hotel’s address is 10 Rue Jean Jaurès, 92800 Puteaux. At first, it felt quite far from Paris – though to be fair, we were coming straight from Charles de Gaulle Airport. Once we were in and out of the city centre, it didn’t feel that out of the way.
You’ll need to hop on the tram or metro to get into town, but it’s manageable.
There’s actually not a lot of stuff going on in the area. We struggled to find a bar, cafe, or restaurant that was open regularly. But there is a Westfield Mall within walking distance (Westfield Forum des Halles, 101 Porte Berger, 75001 Paris, France) – perfect when it’s 40°C outside and you’re craving AC!
Public transport near Mama Shelter Paris La Défense
Your best bet is to use Esplanade de la Défense metro station – it’s less than a five-minute walk from the hotel and is clearly signposted. Super handy for getting around. Also, when you’re coming back, there’s tons of signs for “Mama Shelter”.
What was the room like at Mama Shelter Paris La Défense?
We booked a Medium Mama Double, which was on the smaller side but well-equipped. There was a comfy king-sized bed, bedside tables, good storage, and a lovely bathroom.
Dining & Drinks
Mama Shelter La Défense has three venues: Mama Diner, The Sports Bar, and The Penthouse. Sadly, we didn’t get to eat at any of them – everything seemed to open late, close midday, or stop serving food early. That was a definite downside.
We did get drinks in the Penthouse, but it turns out the 10% Dis-Loyalty discount and the free coffee don’t apply there. Bit of a letdown.
Would I stay at Mama Shelter Paris La Défense again?
I think so! I would love to visit when the weather is a little more cool. Visiting during a heatwave kind of made it impossible to use the secret garden or the outdoor areas. But I think I’d be more open to trying more Dis-Loyalty hotels in Paris first.
